A name change in order?

So after mutzing with this for a couple of weeks and a generous offer from a friend, I have begun a re-evaluation. What I really want this machine for is care free entertainment. At this point Im not sure MythTV is going to be able provide it. I have concerns about software stability, driver stability and wondering whether or not Im being hampered by the drivers on Linux. After sinking this much money into, I hope I didnt make the wrong decision.

I have another friend who is building an MCE solution as we speak and I will be watching his progress very closely. He has generously offered an MCE license and after a bit of reading. I might just have to take him up on it. I have a deep seated hatred for MS and their products, so this is not a decision I would make lightly. I have decided that I will be working on this for today, but if I cannot get a few of the basics that I want running today, you may be reading a new blog tomorrow.

Hey lookie there! Comments are open on this posting!
Anyway, yeah, I have an XP Media Center 2005 license, and I think I still have a Vista license as well. I got it for submitting at least one active bug during the beta (yea, like finding bugs was hard!)
You'll have to see it in action once it's running and weigh the usage, stability, performace, and the fact that it's MS all together. If it makes you feel any better, it was a free license! :)

I might have finally reached stability! A couple stupid little changes and it's been rock solid! I'm recording now, tested in HD/surround sound on the TV and all went perfectly. I'm installing apps right now and am probably looking at an Easter weekend launch.

How are things there? What apps are you using? If you get a chance, check out My Movies (http://www.mymovies.name) and DVRMSToolbox (http://www.babgvant.com) Those are the 2 most useful Media Center apps on the planet!
